About Us      

Mission Statement:   To embrace all levels of swimmers providing each and every athlete with the best possible environment and resources that will allow each athlete to progress from novice to the highest levels of competition.  To offer the opportunity  for all swimmers, regardless of age or ability, to reach their highest personal potential as both a person and athlete.  Our teaching system encourages young people to develop the character and self-discipline necessary to succeed not only in swimming but also in life away from the pool.  We are committed to helping children grow in character, physical development, and skill using our carefully designed, professionally coached, and respected competitive swimming program and swimming school.

Founder Carle' Fierro's Current Achievements: I am reflecting on my PAST accomplishments, focusing on the PRESENT in providing my swimmers with the BEST POSSIBLE competitive swimming program and swimming school and looking forward to the FUTURE and the building of the Westchester Aquatic Club Swim Center.

*        U.S. Swimming Certified Coach (1984-Present), 2008-2009 Metropolitan Swimming “Age Group Coach of the Year”. Developed numerous  Nationally Level Age Group Swimmers. Former Program Director, Badger Swim Club Age Group Team for over 20 years.

*       NY State Certified Swim Coach (1984-present), 2002-2003 & 2008-2009 Boys High School Swimming “Journal News Boys High School Swimming Coach of the Year”. Developed Sectional Champions and Record Holders in addition to 10 All-American High School Swimmers.

*        American Red Cross WSI  (1980-present)

*        American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Instructor  (1980-present)

*        American Red Cross Waterfront Lifeguard Training Instructor  (1980-present)

*       American Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED Instructor  (1980-present)

The Westchester Aquatic Club is a specialized Age Group Swim Program based out of the The College of New Rochelle.  Children from ages 4 & Up  are introduced to competitive swimming and eventually coached to reach their individual potential in swimming.  Proper form is reinforced through drills.  Endurance and interval training is introduced.  Swimmers are introduced to all aspects of swimming including self-respect and respect for others, commitment, goal setting, strategies in achieving goals, and sportsmanship.

Financial Assistance & Payment Plans:  During these difficult financial times, we do offer reduced rates and monthly payment plans based upon need and ability.  Financial assistance is offered on a first-come first-serve basis and upon each family's individual needs. This information is kept strictly confidential. All requests financial assistance or a payment plan must be submitted through EMAIL ONLY to Allison Garces.  Please indicate reason for request and your child's age and group placement.  All requests must be made by September 1, 2010.

Instructional Stroke School

                                               

Future Stars - The Future Stars  is the developmental and entry level of the  competitive program for swimmers who can stroke Freestyle with there face in the water and who can do some Backstroke.  (Ages 5-9).  Coaches work on fine tuning swimmers individual skills.  Proper body position, breathing, and form are developed through competitive drills.  Practice is 30 minutes long and swimmers Practice 1x or 2x per week. 

Meets at College of New Rochelle on Tuesday & Thursdays from 5:45-6:15 pm & Saturday 10:30-11:00 am & Sunday from 11:30-12:00 pm.
 

Bronze - The Bronze Team is the next step of the competitive program. Bronze swimmers can stroke Freestyle with rhythmic breathing and who can do backstroke. (Ages 5-10). Introduction to competitive swimming, proper technique of all four competitive strokes and diving.  Proper form is reinforced through drills.  Endurance and interval training is introduced.  Swimmers are introduced to all aspects of competitive swimming including self-respect and respect for others, commitment, goal setting, strategies in achieving goals, and sportsmanship.  The foundation is built for future success in competitive swimming. Practice is 45 minutes and swimmers Practice 1x or 2x per week

Meets at College of New Rochelle on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Fridays from 5:30-6:15 pm, on Saturday 10:15-11:00 am & Sunday from 11:15-12:00 pm.


Competitive Programs

  

Silver Team - The Silver Team is the next step of the competitive program.  Coaches work on fine tuning  each swimmer's individual skills.  Proper body position, breathing, and form are developed through competitive drills and endurance training.  This program is structured.  We teach the swimmers to respect each other and how to work together as a team.  Gradual endurance and stamina are developed. 

Silver A Team  Swimmers must be able to do 50 yards of both freestyle and backstroke as well as 25 yards of both breaststroke and butterfly.   Swimmers are placed in Silver A or Silver B based upon ability and age.  Swimmers practice 2 to 3 times per week.  Silver A Practice session is 1 hour and 15 minutes. 

Meets at College of New Rochelle on on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Fridays – 5:15-6:30 pm, Saturdays 9:45 -11:00 am & Sundays - 10:45-12:00 pm.
 

Silver B Team  Swimmers must be able to do 25 yards of both freestyle and backstroke as well as 25 yards of either breaststroke and butterfly.   Silver B Practice session is 1 hour.

Meets at College of New Rochelle on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Fridays from 5:30-6:30 pm, on Saturday 10:00-11:00 am & Sunday from 11:00-12:00 pm.


Junior Level I The Junior I group is composed of advanced-level junior swimmers, ages 7-12. Swimmers in this group can swim all four competitive strokes legally. Swimmers are placed in this group based on meet performance, practice performance, training habits, etc.

Group Requirements: Members of the Junior Level I group must have achieved at least 1 USS "BB" time in their age-group. Emphasis in this group will be on stroke mechanics, conditioning, and preparation for the Westchester Aquatics upper levels of the  program.  Participation in this group is by coach's invitation only.

Attendance Recommendations:  The recommended practice attendance for the Junior I group is 2-3 practices per week.

Meets at College of New Rochelle on Tuesday thru Fridays from 5:00-6:30 pm , Saturdays 9:30 -11:00 am & Sundays - 10:30-12:00 pm.


Select Junior Group The Select Junior Group is for dedicated swimmers, ages 8-13, with the goals of becoming nationally qualified. The emphasis will be on refining stroke mechanics and preparing for the rigors of more intense training. Swimmers are placed in this group based on meet performance, practice performance, training habits, etc.

Group Requirements: Members of the Select Junior group must have achieved at least 1 USS "A" time in their age-group and will be  selected by the coaching staff.

Attendance Recommendations:  The recommended practice attendance for the Junior Select group is 4 or more practices per week.

Meets at College of New Rochelle on Mondays-Thru Fridays from 3:45-5:45 pm  - Saturday from 8:00-10:00 am & Sunday from 9:00-11:00 pm

Senior Level I The Senior Level  I group is composed of advanced-level junior swimmers, ages 13-18. Swimmers in this group can swim all four competitive strokes legally. Swimmers are placed in this group based on meet performance, practice performance, training habits, etc.

Group Requirements: Members of the Junior I group must have achieved at least 1 USS "BB" time in their age-group. Emphasis in this group will be on stroke mechanics & conditioning. Participation in this group is by coach's invitation only.

Attendance Recommendations:  The recommended practice attendance for the Senior Level I group is 3-5  practices per week.

Meets at College of New Rochelle on Mondays-Thru Fridays from 3:45-5:45 pm, Saturdays 8:00-10:00 am & Sundays - 9:00-11:00 am. Tuesday & Thursday optional AM practice 5:30-7:00 am.
 


Select Senior Group The Select Senior Group is composed of our top senior level swimmers ages 13-18., who have committed themselves to year round participation in the Westchester Aquatic Club program. Swimmers in this group are training for competition at the regional, national, and international level.

Group Requirements: Members of the Senior I practice group must have achieved at least 3 USS "AA" times or 1 USS "AAA" time in their age-group. Participation in this group is by coach's invitation only.

Attendance Recommendations:  Athletes are expected to attend 5 or more practices per week as a member of this group

Meets at College of New Rochelle on Mondays-Thru Fridays from 3:45-5:45 pm, Saturdays 8:00-10:00 am & Sundays - 9:00-11:00 am. Tuesday & Thursday optional AM practice 5:30-7:00 am.
